Bruinwalk.com: Find what matters on and around UCLA.

Founded in 1998, as a portal to UCLA, Bruinwalk.com served the needs of the UCLA student body through a steady news feed and web mail services. In 2001, Bruinwalk.com introduced its most well known feature, student-generated professor reviews, allowing the site to transition into an era more focused on community-generated content. While the site has since discontinued its e-mail and pre-Facebook social networking features, it is expanding to become the dominant resource of information regarding UCLA and all of the entities found within and around campus. Through text, photo, and video profiles, Bruinwalk.com will allow each group, business, department, and location on campus to be highlighted for everyone to see.

Bruinwalk.com is looking for UCLA students interested in writing, photography, video, and web design. Staff members are responsible for creating content profiling all the distinct elements that make up the UCLA experience, from student groups and organizations to locations, from academic departments to campus traditions and life on and around campus. With the aim of providing users with all the information they could need for any individual entity, Bruinwalk.com staff members will be creating the predominant encyclopedia on everything UCLA.

 

Staff members will also have the opportunity to increase Bruinwalk.com's online presence. Through such social networking sites as Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube, we are able to highlight certain profiles created on Bruinwalk.com as well as communicate with the UCLA population at large. Another step in increasing Bruinwalk.com's presence is through an upcoming series of iPhone apps, which will allow clubs and student groups to better communicate within their groups as well as promote themselves thoughout the broader UCLA community.

 

There is currently no deadline to apply as a Bruinwalk.com staff member. Applications will be available throughout the quarter to anyone interested.
